Where To Ride Your Motorcycle In Florida
Given our temperate and sunny weather here in Florida, it’s no surprise that motorcyclists love to ride its highways all year round. But where to ride when you have so many options? Don’t worry! The staff at Polaris of Gainesville in Alachua have a couple of tried-and-true Florida routes for you to try out when you’re exploring our state. Give them a whirl and let us know how they went!
Ozello Trail (Ozello, FL)
This winding nine-mile, two-lane highway is a draw for motorcyclists from all over. You’ll find it midway between the cities of Crystal River and Homosassa, jutting off west from US Hwy 98. The trail takes you out across the keys that comprise the unincorporated community of Ozello, with its terminus at Ozello Community Park. Along the route, you’ll find several local dining spots which are perfect for a lunchtime stop. Don’t miss this gorgeous ride that gives you optimal views of the Gulf!
Overseas Highway (Florida Keys)
To truly see what Florida has to offer, you’ll want to take a long ride across US Route 1 as it traverses the Florida Keys. Beginning in Key Largo, just off the mainland, you’ll follow US Route 1 for 112 miles as it skips across the many islands that form this region. At its terminus, you’ll land in Key West. One of the highway bridges spans a cool seven miles, where you’ll see nothing but ocean in every direction. This is an unmissable ride, but be warned that traffic can often be heavy during the tourist season.
