Places To Boat In Florida
Being the nation’s leader in boat ownership, Florida has no shortage of amazing places to take your boat. Whether you’re setting sail or cruising with an outboard, you’ll love taking in both the coastal and inland waterways of our state. The Atlantic coast and the Gulf of Mexico each offer their own beautiful vistas, but we’ve chosen to spotlight what the western coast has to offer here.
We love boating around Florida as much as you do here at Polaris of Gainesville, so we’ve picked out a couple of our favorite places along the Gulf for you to explore!
Tarpon Springs
This city has a higher percentage of Greek Americans than any other city in the United States, giving it a rich cultural heritage. During the 1890s, Greek immigrants settled here to hook sponges as part of a flourishing marine industry. This legacy lives on in the name of the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks, from which you can tour the Anclote River. You’ll be able to gaze out at the sparkling Gulf waters and you might even see a dolphin! Anclote Key, a gorgeous white-sand barrier island, is only reachable by boat, which makes this a worthwhile boating endeavor.
Key West
The largest of the Keys is a very popular destination for Florida boaters. If you want an unforgettable memory and iconic photo opportunity, you’ll want to boat off the coast of the city of Key West to watch the sunset across the Gulf, which is a classic pastime here. Feast your eyes on the beautiful golden and red light reflected in the water.
During the day, you can dock at the Historic Seaport to tour the coastal neighborhood. You can take in the city’s diversity, which includes a large population of Cuban immigrants who have brought their cuisine and culture into Key West. This is definitely a destination worthy of your time!
