ATV Rides in Florida
Florida is home to many unforgettable ATV riding locations. Powersports enthusiasts are able to experience a range of biomes and wildlife, enjoying sights such as swamplands and dunes. Plus, the good weather often makes for comfortable rides. We've gathered up our favorite Florida trails to take your four-wheeler below. If you want more travel suggestions or want to explore ATVs for sale, head over to Polaris® of Gainesville in Alachua, Florida.
Tate's Hell State Forest Trails
If you want to explore a variety of ecosystems, this ATV trail system is for you! At Tate's Hell State Forest, you'll find over 150 miles of designated trails. Throughout your ride, soak up views of cypress/titi swamps, pine flatwoods, and blackwater rivers. You may spot wildlife, such as wading birds to deer.
To enjoy this park, you will need either an annual permit or the "Three Day Off-Highway Vehicle Pass". If one day isn't enough to meet your four-wheeler riding needs, you can spend the night at the park's campground.
Clear Creek OHV Riding Area
This riding area is found within the Blackwater River State Forest, which is the largest forest in the state of Florida. There are plenty of trails designed specifically for four-wheelers. The best part? There are separate motorcycle trails, so you won't need to share the trails with them and will enjoy a less crowded trail to explore.
If you want to enjoy more than ATV riding, there is also lake fishing in the area. For those wanting to have an extended stay, choose from primitive campsites and campsites offering more amenities.
Croom Motorcycle Area at Withlacoochee State Forest
Here you will find 2,600 acres of off-roading areas in the Withlacoochee State Forest. Found in west-central Florida, you'll enjoy great access to wildlife watching, hiking, canoeing, and horseback riding. The park offers two day-use areas with ATV trail access: Hammock and Sand Hill.
Florida State Forest Rules for Four-Wheelers
Before you head out on your ATV ride, it's important to know the rules found at Florida's public land ATV trails. When riding in a state forest, all four-wheeler operators must have an OHV permit. These can be found at the trailhead gatehouses or at offices near the entrance.
To enjoy the trail, you must tow your four-wheeler to the staging area. Then you can head over to the trail, but you must keep an eye out for foot traffic. The speed limit in the state forests is 30 miles per hour, so stay aware of your speed and ensure you follow all traffic laws and signs.
Finally, your ATV's engine and exhaust cannot hit over 96 decibels and you will need a spark arrestor installed that is approved by the Forest Service. As long as you follow all of the Florida state forest rules, you can enjoy a safe and comfortable trail ride!
